Security forces arrested two militants within four hours after they lobbed two hand grenades on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir district of Pulwama on Sunday afternoon, a police spokesman said.
He said militants lobbed two hand grenades on security forces at Sail Chardoo on the highway at 1610 hrs on Sunday. However, the grenade did not exploded, he said, adding later Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) defused both the grenades without causing any damage.
He said in this regard case FIR number 90/2020 U/S 307 IPC, 16,18,20 ULAP Act & Section 3 were registered in police station Awantipora and investigation taken up immediately.
He said during the course of investigation it came to fore that two persons were riding a white colour Apache bike who actually had lobbed grenades and were driving very fast.
The area was cordoned immediately and during the search of the village Sail, the suspected white colour Apache bike was traced at about 100 meters away from the place of incident.
During further search of the area, both the militants were arrested from village Sail Awantipora within four hours after hurling grenades. They have been identified as Umer and Zahid Yusuf Pala both resident of Aloora Shopian.
Further investigation and questioning of both the militants was going on, he said.
